VALORANT: How to Play Omen

by | Sep 27, 2022 | Guides - Valorant

Omen is unique among the Valorant agents. This Controller uses his capacity to control space and time to hunt his victim. But does that make him one of the most lethal assassins on Future Earth? Let’s investigate.

Omen is referred to be Valorant’s in-house “shadow hunter.” With a murky past and a matching set of skills, the sneaky Controller Agent should check off most of the necessary boxes for gamers wishing to tailor the battlefield to their needs.

Omen is undoubtedly challenging to handle, but once you figure out when and where to utilize him, you’ll wonder why you didn’t deploy the hooded assailant sooner.

Is Omen the Right Agent For You?

  • Two distinct teleportation types.
  • Exceptional “smoke” skills and a solid blind.
  • Excellent toolbox with solely functional skills.

  • It has one of the worst ultimate abilities in the game; from the Shadows requires you to glance behind when used.
  • His skills almost all have idle animations.
  • He creates a lot of noise with his ultimate, which draws attention to Omen (which can be as good as bad).

Omen Abilities

Shroud Step

EQUIP a shrouded step ability and see its range indicator. FIRE to begin a brief channel, then teleport to the marked location.

EQUIP a blinding orb. FIRE to throw it forward, briefly reducing the vision range and deafening all players it touches. This projectile can pass through walls.

Dark Cover

EQUIP a shadow orb, entering a phased world to place and target the orbs. PRESS the ability key to throw the shadow orb to the marked location, creating a long-lasting shadow sphere that blocks vision. HOLD FIRE while targeting to move the marker further away.

HOLD SECONDARY FIRE while targeting to move the marker closer. PRESS RELOAD to toggle the normal targeting view.

ULTIMATE – From the Shadows

EQUIP a tactical map. FIRE to begin teleporting to the selected location. While teleporting, Omen will appear as a Shade that an enemy can destroy to cancel his teleport or press EQUIP for Omen to cancel his teleport.

The Road to A Omen Main

Use Teleport to Get in Position

Finding unusual places and angles behind the opposing squad is key to Omen’s success. He can securely navigate hallways thanks to his Shadow Walk, and with his long-range Dark Cover, he can also take over an area or obstruct sight. From the Shadows, Omen’s ultimate ability can be utilized to find flanks for his team in nearly any circumstance or get a spike plant on the other side of the map if one site is fiercely guarded.

He can also utilize Into the Shadows to teleport away while using Dark Cover to obscure his view. You can use Into the Shadows in various ways, such as sneak up on defenders near a bomb site or catch them off guard with a well-timed flank.

Players of the Omen must be cautious when teleporting throughout the battlefield because a well-organized squad can easily single him out. It’s crucial to pick the correct time to attack since you want to eliminate a number of opponents before the opposing team even realizes you’ve struck.

Use Smokes Efficiently

Do not use entry-frag with Omen. This should go without saying because he is a controller, but we’ll say it anyway. In the same way that Breach or Skye can rely on their teammates to mop up flash kills, paranoia can be a useful pushing tool, but you should use it to set up your team just as much as you do for yourself.

Which point you push or which point of yours is being pushed will determine where you utilize your smokes. Preemptive smokes on often scouted points might give your teammates time to build up on defense, giving them a significant edge if they get into a battle. To possibly stop the assailants’ momentum, you can swiftly dump the smoke on a point that is being pushed in the alternative.

You will frequently have bomb responsibility if you play behind your duelists and your initiator. When moving on the bomb, it is quite advantageous to have control over your sight lines as you push. Depending on how the first push goes, you may be able to use your ultimate to go to the unoccupied site across from the one your team chased in order to receive backup from a different location while smoking to flee.

Best & Worst Maps for Omen

Due to his great skill set Sova is actually a great pick for most maps, however, Sova’s main strength lies in holding longer open sightlines and using the environment around him. More open maps with vertical space, and long angles, allow Sova to use his shock dart and recon bolt at a greater distance, resulting in safer more accessible intel.
