The start of September means the beginning of the biggest Valorant tournament, the Valorant Champions 2022 16 of the best teams around the world will battle it out for the $300,000 first place reward and the title of the best Valorant team. Here are the main highlights of the Valorant Champions 2022 Group Stage.

The SEA Juggernaut Paper Rex is Out

Team Liquid has eliminated Paper Rex from the VCT Champions 2022 tournament after they finished second at the most recent international VALORANT competition at Masters Copenhagen.

With less time to prepare and practice, especially on the newest map, Pearl, the EMEA squad, was the last to qualify for the event from their region’s Last Chance Qualifier. However, Liquid eliminated the SEA squad from Champions with a score of 2-1 today.

Due in large part to Benedict “Benkai” Tan’s antics, which include eating a sandwich during a press conference, dressing up like a dinosaur on stage, and entering the stage as if he had just gotten out of bed, Paper Rex is known as the darlings of VALORANT esports. After losing against Liquid, they will no longer be eligible for the Champions playoffs.

LOUD Sent ZETA Home

Two trailblazers in their regions were poised to compete for the final playoff slot from Group B after Paper Rex was eliminated in the Group A decisive match at VCT Champions 2022.

With some of the most devoted supporters in the competition, ZETA DIVISION and LOUD entered Champions as pioneers of VALORANT in Japan and Brazil, respectively. In one of the first games of Champions, these two teams squared off, and LOUD easily prevailed.

Even though they have been solid versus most other teams, NA’s OpTic has consistently been a thorn in the side of the Brazilian team LOUD. Aspas praised Leviatán, LOUD’s next opponent, and added that the team is looking forward to their opening playoff encounter and that their aggressive strategies were exciting.

FunPlus Phoenix Oust KRÜ Esports

The first of two rematches scheduled for the day featured FunPlus Phoenix and KRÜ Esports on the final day of the group stage of VALORANT Champions 2022, with one of the last playoff positions on the line.

Similar to their performance in Masters Copenhagen, FPX had a poor start to the group stage but ended up looking much more capable by the end of the stage. With their victory over KRÜ Esports under their belts and a spot in the playoffs secured, FPX can now anticipate playing DRX, who they easily thrashed in Copenhagen’s lower bracket.

Fnatic Showed Why They Are Still One Of The Best

The 2022 VALORANT Champions tournament’s group stage has come to a close with the conclusion of the final deciding game. The last playoff berth was contested by EMEA’s Fnatic and North America’s 100 Thieves in a rematch.

Any team from NA or every team from EMEA would qualify for the playoffs depending on which team won this match and became the third team from their region to go past the group round.

Despite Fnatic’s weak performance against FURIA a few days earlier, the team came together today to defeat 100T 2-0.

All EMEA teams who competed at VCT Champions advanced past the group stage. In their next playoff game, Fnatic will take on XSET in front of a live audience. Despite the team’s early tournament and season inconsistencies, they have now placed themselves in a position to continue this momentum and confidence into their upcoming game.

Now that the group stage has concluded, here is the schedule for the upcoming playoffs.
