A long-awaited return of a fan-favorite map to the Valorant map pool.

Valorant Split will be accessible to play again, however, two other maps will be leaving. Riot Games established a seven-map pool in June to help players learn and master each map, but the new pool will be reduced to six maps.

Breeze and Bind will leave the map pool in Competitive and Unrated to make space for Split. You can, however, play them in custom games, Spike Rush, and other game types.

Valorant Split will be added to the map pool with patch 6.0 in early January, with a few adjustments. According to Riot, these modifications will be outlined in the patch notes, and no date has been set for when Bind and Breeze will be restored to the map pool.

Riot considers criteria such as player mood, past and future planned changes, and what the map delivers in terms of strategic variety when determining which maps to remain and which to delete.

“For Breeze, we feel like this map has some room to improve in terms of agents and team comp diversity, as well as some opportunities for simplification of the space,” explained Joe Lansford, Level Designer.

“And for Bind, it’s mostly about strategic diversity. We’d like to open up more play around the teleporters and potentially rethink how teams execute, and defend against executes, on both sites.”

While many will certainly be relieved to see Breeze go, Bind will be missed. The good news is that, like Split, they are not gone for good, and we will see them return with some modifications at some point.

Valorant Map Pool

Come January, the following maps will be in rotation:

  • Split
  • Haven
  • Ascent
  • Icebox
  • Fracture
  • Pearl
