With the regular season of the Summer Split coming to an end, many fans have been wondering if Worlds 2020 will be cancelled due to the Global Pandemic.
Despite the situation, Riot has recently announced that the 2020 League of Legends World Championship will be held at Pudong Soccer Stadium, Shanghai, China. Which will begin on September 25 and conclude on October 31.

Riot Games has addressed the concern of fans around the world through the words of their CEO, Nicolo Laurent:

“The team has been tirelessly working to see that all possible measures are taken to preserve the well-being of everyone involved with the event. We have been closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19, partnering with local and national authorities, external risk and safety consultants, and we continue to follow guidance from various health organizations around the world to ensure the health and safety of fans, pro players and everyone involved in bringing Worlds 2020 to life.”

“Instead of touring across China, all stages will be held in Shanghai. This will reduce travel over the course of the tournament and give us the ability to more closely control the event environment.”

Riot Games also stated that Worlds will return to China in 2021 for the full multi-city World Championship tour, bringing the live sporting experience to fans across the country as originally intended. North America will host the World Championship in 2022.
