T1 Zeus: from shadows to Worlds Finals MVP

When it came to League of Legends, T1's journey in 2023 was full of ups and downs. But Choi "Zeus" woo-je, the team's top laner, never gave up. A lot of bad things happened this year. The worst was when T1 midlaner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok hurt his wrist during the...

The 2023 Mid-Season Invitational is the topic of the first League of Legends update cycle of March. This time around, the balancing team hopes to complete their jungle modification binge, continue adjusting mage items, and launch some significant rejigs for Azir, Yuumi, and LeBlanc in League Patch 13.5.

With that trio, top season 13 meta selections Caitlyn and Ashe have been added to the March change list, while ever-popular characters like Aatrox, Fixx, Jinx, and Samira are set to benefit from upgrades.

Meanwhile, the new-look Aurelion Sol has been nerfed.

Riot plans to bring a slew of new Broken Covenant skins to the League shop for Xayah, Miss Fortune, and others in the fifth season update, as well as a new Prestige skin for one champion.

Surprise Yuumi revamp is now available on servers.

Riot said last week that it would finally be listening to League fans and changing the iconic floating cat Yuumi.

It’s not a small set of adjustments either—every single one of her skills is being axed, and Dot Esports expects this to significantly alter how she plays. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see, but it’s a rather comprehensive list of buffs, nerfs, and whole ability overhauls.

Just about the only thing sticking around is her attach.

The concept of reworking the Mystical Cat isn’t entirely novel. Riot did tell players in December 2022 that it was keeping a close eye on the much-maligned support pick, but this massive package of improvements surely came as a surprise. Here’s everything you need to know about League Patch 13.5.

Last of disruptive changes hit the jungle

Another League patch, another set of roaming role adjustments. Riot, on the other hand, has a goal that most junglers will appreciate: it hopes this is the last batch.

To combat snowballing effects, the League devs implemented many nerfs for the playmaking position at the start of the season. In particular, the adjustments emphasized rewarding farming over ganking player lanes repeatedly in the early game.

They may have gone a little too far, so this update aims to bring them back a little. The key change is the opponent jungle damage reduction, which many players labeled a “godawful overhaul.” Several players had been urging Riot to modify it since season 13 began, and Riot is finally doing so in this update.

New ability mechanic for LeBlanc

In 13.5, LeBlanc will receive boosts from a new Q ability mechanic. Riot TheTruexy implemented this patch during League PBE testing, which results in her Q receiving 100% returned mana and a 30% refund to its cooldown following kills. The same bonus applies to her duplicated Q abilities as well.

Furthermore, her Q sigil deals 10-146 additional damage to minions. “Is it really that practical? “Go check out,” wrote TheTruexy.

The Aurelion Sol revamp is far too powerful right away.

The Star Forger, League’s revamped dragon, has been running amok early in season 13, and after numerous big flaws broke him and his win rate skyrocketed courtesy of Riot-managed bonuses and adjustments, he is getting slapped with nerfs.

Riot noticed A-Sol when his victory and ban rates reached an all-time high in the previous release. His armor, health, and Q ability are all being improved.

Broken Covenant skins the newest League cosmetics

13.5

The first March update will include eight new skins. These “Broken Covenant”-themed cosmetics add an interesting gothic and fantasy vibe centered on Aspirants, Neverghaasts, and an ongoing conflict in an alt-League universe. We anticipate that these skins will be accompanied by an in-game League event.

These skins are set to go live during the League Patch 13.5 cycle.
