The Riot and Garena teams are working hard to ensure that every player’s hard progress for both games will be protected during the Garena – Riot account migration as Riot Games will now self-publish League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics!

All of your account assets, including emotes, skins, icons, champions, and in-game money like Blue/Orange Essence, and RP, will be included with the Garena – Riot account migration. To ensure that you don’t lose any of your hard-earned content, currencies, and prizes like Hextech Chests, Event Passes, Clash Tickets, etc. will be combined together.

However, duplicate items in loot, like skins, emotes, champions, etc., will be blended into a single copy of each item. You will receive Welcome Capsules sometime after the migration is complete. Riot will total up the RP worth of the duplicated content.

It’s important to note that the Garena Shells won’t be transferred, so if you still have any in your account, it’s preferable to spend them before the migration.

While keeping the loot is critical, it’s more important to maintain your progress. Since you made the majority of your progress using your Garena League account, Riot Games will keep it. Any advancement you made prior to connecting on your Riot League account will be overwritten by the champion mastery, honor, challenges, and ranked history that will be transferred from your former Garena League account.

Your present League rank and LP, however, will be reset. Riot Games made use of this chance to get a new rank. After the migration is complete, a new rank season will start on the SEA servers. In addition, League and TFT missions and Battle Pass progress will both receive a complete reset. There will be expedited mission progress, but it is currently unknown how the Battle Pass progression will work.

Here’s how to migrate your Garena Account into Riot.

During the migration, your Garena League/TFT information, such as your summoner name and friend list, will be given precedence. Your Garena League summoner name will be held for you between January 1st, 2021, and January 6th, 2023, provided that you have played at least once. When you log into your Riot League account after the migration, you will be required to choose a new summoner name if a Garena League/TFT account that hasn’t played since January 1st, 2021, will be linked. If you still desire your current account name, play once before the migration because you can only name your new account with it if it’s still accessible.

Additionally, if your friends have also made the switch, your Garena League friend list will replace your Riot League friend list.

What would happen if Garena shuts down its servers and I don’t move my account?

To ensure a seamless transfer of their game data to their Riot accounts, Riot Games strongly advises players to link their accounts before the end of 2022. But even when Garena shuts down its servers in January 2023, gamers will be able to move their accounts because it is their primary objective to serve as many players as possible during this transition.
