Yes, we are referring to historical events, astounding shots, and the greatest wombo combo ever.

With amazing performances like xPeke’s Orianna 4-man shockwave, ROX Tigers PraY’s signature arrow, and more, we highlight five of the top gameplay moments from 11 fantastic years of competitive League of Legends action!

So before the semi-finals and grand finals commenced this weekend, here are the top 5 best moments in LoL Worlds.

Honorable Mention

  • Smeb Kennen Ult LoL World 2016

With the help of Smeb and other strong players, ROX Tigers advanced through the World Championship and emerged as the underdog favorites.

Smeb’s Kennen executed the most exquisite four-man Slicing Maelstrom during this gaming moment, eliminating Kim “Trick” Gang-yun, Luka “Perkz,” and Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodrguez of G2 Esports in a single strike. PraY successfully achieved an Ace by eliminating the remaining G2 players.

5. The First ever Pentakill in LoL Worlds Finals

During Worlds 2020, Suning top laner Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin made a splash by shattering records and achieving the first pentakill in tournament history.

The LCK representatives were eliminated one by one by Bin’s Fiora in game two of their best-of-five series versus DAMWON Gaming. As DAMWON slowly made their way back to their base due to the conflict, Bin completed a pentakill.

Bin’s pentakill contributed to the team’s spectacular Worlds debut run, which resulted in a second-place finish that year.

4. Base race at Worlds 2018

In the Worlds 2018 Quarterfinals, KT Rolster and Invictus Gaming engaged in an exciting base race that nobody will ever forget.

For about 40 seconds, viewers almost held their breath as Invictus Gaming and KT Rolster guarded their respective Nexus. This gaming moment meant the world to KT Rolster since Invictus Gaming already had a two-win advantage in this best-of-five series. They would lose one more game to end their Worlds run.

In this base race, KT Rolster and their three remaining members Song “Smeb” Kyung-Irelia, ho’s Go “Score” Dong-Gragas, bin’s and Son “Ucal” Woo-Azir hyeon’s pulled off the seemingly impossible and crossed the finish line first. This happened just as Kang “TheShy” Seung-Fiora lok’s was about to deliver the decisive blow and end the game.

Even though they experienced a temporary setback, Invictus Gaming would go on to win this series and go on to defeat Fnatic to win the Worlds 2018 championship.

3. The Arrow at Worlds 2016

In a move that would come to be known as “The Longshot,” Kim “PraY” Jong-in of ROX Tigers shot the hit of a lifetime against SKT T1 during their Worlds 2016 match.

Lee “Duke” Ho-Ekko Seong’s was doing a teleport at the time, so PraY cast Ashe’s ultimate ability Enchanted Crystal Arrow in his direction from SKT T1’s base. After a suspenseful seven seconds from the time the arrow was released, it perfectly hit Duke, delaying his return to the base. This gave ROX valuable time to harm the remaining SKT T1 players, finally take down their Nexus, and win the match.

According to Korean broadcaster Kim Dong-jun, “He (PraY) received a loud cheer.” “Fans called it a godly shot,”

2. xPeke’s Orianna 4-man shockwave Worlds 2015

This list isn’t complete without the Worlds 2015 when Spanish player Enrique “xPeke” Cedeo Martnez ascend to prominence.

xPeke successfully executed a 4-man Shockwave utilizing one of his favorite champion, Orianna, during Origen’s match versus LGD Gaming. Jesper “Niels” Svenningsen’s (now known as Zven) Kalista ultimate, which knocked up three LGD members, assisted in setting this up.

Choi “Acorn” Cheon-ju was left to defend by himself after the Shockwave tremendously aided xPeke and even produced a Quadrakill.

1. Insane Wombo Combo at Worlds 2017

Five years ago seems like yesterday, especially when you think back on the incredible performance that SKT T1, the three-time Worlds champions, pulled out.

When Lee “Wolf” Jae-Rakan wan’s and Heo “Huni” Seung-Cho’Gath hoon’s simultaneously flashed into EDG to cast The Quickness, Rupture, and Feral Scream, they caught Edward Gaming off guard on Day 2 of the Group Stage matchups.

Bae “Bang” Jun-Twitch Sik’s then followed up with his deadly skills Venom Cask and Spray and Pray, as well as Lee “Faker” Sang-Command: Hyeok’s Shockwave, when SKT T1 had established sufficient crowd control over the Chinese squad. Han “Peanut” Wang-ho finished the wombo combo by triggering his Cataclysm to make it difficult for EDG to flee.
