Personal preference governs your VALORANT sensitivity settings, but there are a few things to keep in mind, such as mouse sensitivity and dots per inch (DPI).
Precision is important in VALORANT. You’ll have trouble correctly clicking or tapping on your opponents’ heads if your sensitivity is too high. Yet, if it’s too low, reacting to a shot, a flank, or a flash can be just as difficult.
Finding the appropriate sensitivity balance is essential for improving your VALORANT aim.
The speed at which your mouse cursor moves on your screen is determined by your DPI. It’s the foundation for everything you do on your computer, from surfing the web to playing games. But, before deciding on your sensitivity, you should first consider your DPI.
Mouse resolutions vary, but they typically range from 400 to 3,200 DPI. The slower your cursor moves, the lower your DPI. The finest players in tactical shooters like VALORANT—those who compete for thousands of dollars in financial prizes—tend to use lower DPIs like 400, 800, and, in some cases, 1,600. With VALORANT, we recommend using 800. It isn’t too quick or too slow.
When deciding on your sensitivity, keep your role in mind. Choose a lesser sensitivity if you prefer employing weapons like the Operator. But, if you like to use a rifle like the Vandal or Phantom, select a higher sensitivity. The same is true for your agent. Higher sensitivities are catered to by Jett and Raze, agents who place an emphasis on movement.
Take note of your actual surroundings as well. If you have limited desk space or a small mousepad, we recommend increasing your sensitivity to compensate.
If you have enough room, you can experiment with a lesser sensitivity. Anything between 0.35 and 0.45 is acceptable. It is on the lower end of the scale and may take some getting used to, but it is not so low that it hinders your movement.
